I was about to click "Submit order" on the steelcase store when I decided I need to really think about whether spending $933 on a chair is a good idea or should I maybe get an office chair seat cushion for $25 and tough it out.Įnded up stumbling across Crandall Office and figured I would look around there. All sorts of logistical issues there, so I decided maybe I should bite the bullet and just order one and see if I can deduct it from taxes next year. Now that they just ordered Marylanders to stay at home and Virginians are to social distance until June 10, I seriously began to consider driving into DC and liberating my chair from work. I have one of these at work and jumped through ALL the hoops to get it. Chairs from Herman Miller and Steelcase are bulletproof and will last you forever as long as you treat them right.

In my opinion, its better to pay $450 for a chair that lasts over 12 years than $150 for a less comfortable chair that lasts you 3 years. While they are pricey, you pay for extreme support and comfort. Mine looks brand new with the exception of a couple minor scratches on the plastic. I got mine remanufactured (new casters, gas cylinder, arm pads, fabric) with a 12 year warranty from Crandall Office ( u/cranda58 on Reddit) for $450, which is far less expensive than the $1000+ price of a new one. They are expensive, but can be had used or remanufactured at a great price. I bought a Steelcase Leap V2, which I personally recommend. While high quality office chairs from brands such as Herman Miller and Steelcase are expensive, it is a worthwhile investment if it means no back pain. Now that many of us are working from home, it is especially important to have a comfortable, supportive chair at home.
